Managers, leaders, top performers and executives who wish to increase their earnings power
Purpose of our blogs
These discussions are written to help managers, leaders, top performers and executives sharpen their knowledge and skills on core organizational competencies. Our material includes tips from our published works and training programs, and hundreds of recommendations we have received from readers and students. We thank them for their helpful feedback and suggestions.
One further point on the structure of our blogs. We are not aiming to replicate the fine work done by others, rather publicize it. We lead into a resource with a brief extract, typically 80 words or less, and a link to the resource. Frequently we will add our critique of the resource.
Our hope is there is something here for both the novice and the expert. It may be our organization of all the resources, our comparison and contrast of differing approaches to a subject, our comprehensive catalog of resources, clarifying pictures developed by our team, and the sheer breadth of content that we have reviewed and cataloged on each subject. Not all of the content is offered here in this free site; those who like the free content and are keen to explore the concepts in more detail should purchase the subscriptions to access the full library of content and a printed guidebook.
The topics on each competency include the following:
1. Definition of the competency. We provide multiple definitions of a competency. This material is not only for the individual to understand different perspectives on a competency, but valuable for trainers, managers and others who have a requirement to explain the meaning and purpose of a competency in an organizational setting.
2. Behaviors - we discuss and list the tell-tale behaviors of leaders who exemplify proficiency in a competency. Remember it is not what you say, but what you do that forms deep impressions in those observing you.
3. Short Course (15 mins) – key points from the entire body of work on a competency, compressed into a 15 minute module.
4. Detailed discussion of the competency and links to approximately 100 top references on the subject
5. Reference material: Book reviews, videos, audio, etc. Approximately 100 resources included in this section, including top authors, trainers, and experts.
6. Podcasts from various sources (available for download)
7. Inspirational quotes – approximately 100 relevant quotes for the competency. Helps leaders enhance their presentations
